The Thing (5/10)

The only good things about this movie, the monsters and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

First got to know her from Scott Pilgrim Vss The World. And I really couldn't take my eyes off her then. Here, she did alright. I do admit I was more disappointed, probably because of how the movie turned out - which was predictable and unnecessarily cliched.

I did say the monsters were one of the best things about this movie; but not the first one and the last one though. First one, I have to point out, was horribly done and horribly introduced. And the last one, cliche with the face where it was and how it was shot.

But other than those two, the rest of them were really cool. The look, the way they "evolved" and "ate", very, very cool.

However, the story wasn't all that great. Every character was predictable. And of course, the last two standing were the Americans. Cliche.

And loopholes were everywhere. Especially the biggest one, and SPOILER ALERT, when the two Americans came back, why didn't the one that was the fake one eat the human? Bad, bad storytelling just for the sake of drama.
