Am I biased or is Clooney just this good, both as an actor and a director? If it was up to me, there should be a few Oscar nominations from this movie.
I loved everything about it. Even though it was political and about a system that is quite foreign to me, it wasn't too difficult to understand - as usually it would be for me when it comes to any form of politics.
The actors were all fantastic to watch. Second Gosling movie in a day for me here in Singapore and he was equally great in both but also totally different. I loved to watch how he portrayed the frailty of the human consciousness when attacked. The story created a brilliant character for him.
And I loved how Clooney told the story with the twists in the middle. Everything was done quite quietly but the brilliance of them never failed to shine through.
Seymour Hoffman once again reminded me why I love watching him. Giamatti's portrayal of a sly and cunning character was astounding as he revealed his intentions. Rachel Wood never looked as sexy as she did here.
But the one and only thing that I wasn't satisfied with was how a character was killed off here because I thought it was a little too premature for the story.
Nevertheless, this definitely will be in my top 3 of the year.
