Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (7/10)

The best part of this movie was Thomas Horn's performance. The story however was just alright.

Knowing nothing of the story when I went into the movie, I thought the way director Stephen Daldry introduced us to Horn's character was quite nice. And in the end, Horn's performance moved me to wet my eyes.

Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock didn't have too much to do here but did add on to the acting quality. And Max von Sydow shared wonderful chemistry with Horn, which was certainly needed for the second half of the movie.

I did enjoy how the movie ended - there was something profound about the realisation and of existentialism presented by Horn's character, about the loss he chose to run away from and coming back full circle to it.
