Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance (3/10)

It's not easy to like Ghost Rider the movie. He's an anti-hero that you just can't get behind. The flaming skull and flaming bike may be cool to look at but after the first movie, it's lost a lot of its coolness.
And moreover, the Rider rarely speaks. And has no emotional presence. He's totally unrelatable.
Everyone must be surprised that they've decided on a sequel. Even more surprising was that Nicolas Cage agreed for another round after the first one tanked.
But where this really went wrong was the story. I couldn't care at all where the story was headed. There was no human connection being created between the characters. Even the son and mother played by Violante Placido didn't look like a family at all. Worse was Idris Elba and Cage's characters' stories also didn't gel well together.
Not only those, but the whole writing was a mess. The bad guys played by Ciaran Hinds and Johnny Whitworth were pathetic, illogical given their status in the story, and ultimately unconvincing.
I guess saying the whole thing was a mess would still be an understatement.
