Dredd was really violet, but in a good way mostly. A lot of the killings were messy and a bit over the top. But in just the right amount because they never went overboard.
I would have liked to get to know more of Olivia Thirlby's character. Her emotionless performance as called for by her character didn't really help her case. But the psychological growth was definitely obvious.
Karl Urban wore the helmet well. I was immersed in the story watching him play the role. But I thought the best character was Lena Headey's. She was almost unrecognisable. One look at her portrayal and that violent vibe was unmistakable. She was scary and in the most awesome way. Well done to her!
The story could have been a little tigther. There were some illogical turn of events that usually plagues Hollywood and it's a pet peeve of mine. A lot of things happened just to fit in more violence and action, and may or may not be necessary in most cases.
And sometimes I really think the bad guys were just shooting blanks.
