The Raid: Redemption (6/10)

A friend told me this was one of the best movies he had seen this year. I of course got curious. He placaed this way up there with The Dark Knight Rises.

And how coincidentally I watched this just after Dredd because the premise of both movies were too similar for comfort.

But in this case, the movie was made purely for action's sake. Everythig happened in tight quarters so that the writer-director can cram one body after another into fists and knives. But I found it quite funny how everything started with guns, then became parangs or hunting knvies, and then to fists. There was a proper sequence and the good guys and bad guys were usually equally matched in terms of weapons of choice.

And of course, in a standard like this one, all logic was out the window. That was really unfortunate.

Worst part for me was that this version that I watched was dubbed. And I cannot believe that the original script which was supposed to be in Indonesian could have been so cheesy. So whoever dubbed this or approved it made poor decisions.

Also, whose idea was it to have them dubbed by Indians? That was so strange.

But I'll have to admit, the action sequences were mostly amazing, amazingly choreographed and amazingly shot. Although some parts were way over-the-top but mostly they looked realistic enough and really good.
