But having said that, Cruise always delivers no matter what. Even if he doesn't make his role great, but he still put on a solid performance. And that's what he did here.
Adapted from the novel, the storyline was awesome and quite original. Even when I could sort of piece things together as the story unfolded but still to me this was quite refreshing.
The action and chase scenes were very decent, and like Cruise, the fight scenes were choreographed to a satisfactory level.
The only thing I would say is that the fun scene that was also on the trailer where Cruise said he wasn't a hero, I wished that scene in the movie would have carried more impact. Perhaps with more sense of intimidation, but also a bigger impact on the storyline.
But what I really didn't like was how the movie ended, or more specifically, how Cruise killed off the last bad guy. It was too sudden and we never established how competent he was with that choice of weapon. Let's face it, we also never seen him doing something reckless. So I thought from a continuity standpoint that seemed a bit off.
Maybe that's how the book ended but I wished it would have been more for the movie.
