As well as Hugh Jackman, whose performance seemed to get better with each passing hour in this beautiful and well-crafted movie. His voice also sounded superb.
The direction also was fantastic by Tom Hooper who has a second successful movie after The King's Speech. He was able to keep the audience entertained and engaged even with all the singing and the long running time.
Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen provided some nice acting and comedy to the otherwise very serious movie. Especially Cohen who once again impressed me with his acting chops in a musical on the silver screen. But there certainly were times when I felt that they took up a lot of screen time. And they popped up again towards the end a couple more times as a distraction but I didn't think that was necessary.
Also while Russell Crowe's acting was certainly competent, his singing sometimes was a bit distracting. There must be a better choice than him for the purpose of just using a big name.
The added ending that was absent in the musical was the one that touched me the most as I cried like I've never cried before in a cinema. Hooper's ending was quite a brilliant one for me. I was very impressed with how he evoked the emotion that touched the heart at the right spot.
