Broken City (7/10)

It was a little bit difficult to see Russell Crowe again after his much criticised role in Les Miserables but it's really these kinds of role that makes Crowe so good. Not that it was a fantastic performance but this was really what Crowe is good at.

Here's a movie that will not make a lot of waves but it's like HTC, quietly brilliant. A good and solid story with great performances all around, from Mark Wahlberg to Catherine Zeta-Jones to Barry Pepper. Also, another small but great role for Kyle Chandler; and even Alona Tal who I just can't remember where I knew her from gave solid performances.

There wasn't much action in this political thriller, even towards the end there wasn't any culmination point. But that's probably why the movie was good because there wasn't any need for action and yet it could capture my attention throughout. The thriller part was definitely well done.
