The acting and the tone were good enough, the story was good enough. What was bad was the characters themselves and the situations created for them by Dan Mazer whose direction was actually good enough. Especially Rafe Spall's and Stephen Merchant's character who looked like their brains were under developed.
But then this coming from someone who just can't swallow Ali G and that kind of humour that Mazer seems to be good at.
And that three-some scene with Anna Faris was very uncomfortable to watch because it had zero context. Faris was actually not too bad in this film, as were Rose Byrne and Minnie Driver who was very funny.
There were some hilarious moments but still not enough to save the pace and the characters.
