Grown Ups 2 (3/10)

The only thing this movie got right is probably the irony in the title, for we are treated to another juvenile effort and movie-making from Adam Sandler and team.

Let me just note down the good bits first as there weren't many obviously. And unfortunately these bits were heavily censored in the Brunei cinema, which I can't understand why seeing as they were already shown in the trailers.

First was how the guys were made to jump off the cliff naked. Second was the SNL cast coming out at the car wash, pun not intended. I thought these were the most fun parts of the movie, and that was about it.

I thought there were two to three actors in this movie that was just wasting their talents away. First was Maria Bello, why someone with her caliber will want to do this for her career is beyond me. Second was Milo Ventimiglia who did so well in the Heroes series, but then again he hasn't had any big break yet. Here I thought he was one of the rare sparkle. I thought he was going for the Tom Cruise effect in Tropic Thunder.

Another would be the great Steve Buscemi, who although didn't do anything wrong here but I thought this actually brought down his star power.

The thing that I didn't like about this movie was that it wasn't really a movie to me. It was more like an episode of SNL where each scene was a different segment. And plenty of times a joke happened and I would wonder, why was it there? It didn't help the storyline at all.

A lot of the jokes were also recycled. Like going to sleep on a bed in a store, or climbing up the rope in the gym (I know there's a name for this but I just don't remember now).

Also a lot of cleavage were used. To a point it just became uncomfortable.

So if you want to see some grown ups doing an episode of Jackass, then maybe this is for you. It wasn't my cup of tea. So much so that when I came out I felt dumber and more stupid, and had to immediately watch another movie to get rid of that bad taste in my mouth, so to speak.
