The Internship (7/10)

It has been more than 5 years since Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson teamed up. And it couldn't have come at a better time than with The Internship in which Vaughn wrote and produced once again.

The only thing that made this movie work, was the writing of Vaughn on creating the characters for himself and Wilson. And the next thing why this movie worked was because of the chemistry these two comedians have with each other. Without those two points, The Internship would not have been as strong for me.

I couldn't get enough of the continuous banter between the two leads and I think I liked this one more than their previous project, Wedding Crashers.

Not only that, and this was where Vaughn did a much better job than Sandler's Grown Ups 2; he dropped life lessons here and there and if you listened carefully, they were meaningful awareness that would be good for the audience to be reminded of.

There were also some quotes that I liked but I can't remember now and I can't find them on the internet too because many of the recorded quotes were the more funnier ones, and not those that are meaningful.

One thing that baffled me was why Rose Byrne had to be an Australian because she sounded nothing like an Aussie. Her British accent was overpowering.

And I half-expected to see Sergey Brin and Larry Page to make a cameo but left the cinema slightly disappointed on this front. However, silly me, I don't even know what they look like so how could I have had recognised them? But in actual fact, Brin did make a cameo at the end of the movie - he was the one who congratulated the two leads.

These feel-good movies can be very predictable and not enjoyable or just average, but I found myself really enjoying the duo's chemistry and their chemistry and relationships with the younger cast. On top of that, by using Google as the backdrop, that made the whole movie more interesting as we got to sneak a peek at the "Emerald City" of corporate offices.

I also liked how Aasif Mandvi and Max Minghella were used here, they portrayed very funny and significant characters. I also liked how Josh Gad was almost unrecognisable as well under that beard, though he was one who could have done more.

Another thing that I sort of enjoy about this movie was that there wasn't an Apple product in sight (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I even saw Dylan O'Brien's character using my Google phone.
