Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 (6/10)

After watching the first one, I wasn't looking forward to a sequel as I didn't really saw the appeal. Sure it was a nice little animated movie but just wasn't interesting enough for me.

This movie didn't have a strong moral message which was a pity. The only thing that I sort of got from it was the relationship with the father, about how Bill Hader's character didn't want to have his father voiced by James Caan to tag along; which sort of reflected how teenagers don't want their parents to "cramp their style".

One thing that has always bothered me as well since the first movie was how the father and son didn't look related at all.

And a lot of times while watching this I kept being reminded of a different movie, and most of all Avatar kept popping up especially when the robotic suits or exo-suits started showing up on the island. So it felt like not only were there no originality, but everything was a close copy to something else.

Two things I did enjoy here were how the acronym for the machine was never consistently pronounced. Not even by Hader. I just find this concept for humour very funny. And also, a lot of times while something was happening in the foreground, there's always something funny happening in the background. I thought these two were nice touches and strong points of the movie.
