This chapter has all the elements that I am looking for in a horror movie. There has to be a strong story for me to invest in. The characters shouldn't be doing stupid things that defies logic. The scares should always be able to be traced back to the main storyline, and not random scares and sound effects.
So in this movie, everything was there. There were just a couple of things that I would disagree with but they were very minor and didn't detract from the overall entertainment factor.
I still really enjoyed Wan's direction, and it's just too bad that now I'm beginning to appreciate him again for his work in horror movies, he's moving away from directing them.
And all the scary bits were nothing to do with sound effects or the sudden appearance of scary images, but from the tension created by Wan with things that were fully visible. That was awesome.
