After Frozen, I was hoping this would be another surprise hit with me but unfortunately, it was far from a hit.
The colours were beautiful and the lead characters were created with some likeability factor. However, their movements were not interesting at all and looked dated.
But most of all, director Manuel Sicilia didn't direct this to what its script had in terms of potential. Sicilia's lack of experience really showed and hurt the movie tremendously.
Also, I thought Freddie Highmore's pitch was a wrong choice of casting. He didn't sound like a strong leading man / boy to lead this movie.
Some other characters I also found questionable, like the jester-looking aid to the protagonist or the snobbish princess. I thought these weren't done well at all.
The only truly interesting character was the crocodile that's made to look like a dragon. And it didn't talk; maybe that's why.
But I did like the story. I thought it was written well. Though the dialogue left me wanting a lot more. And I don't agree to the plural form of "Knights" since there were no other Knights Of Valour around.
