Gene Kelly, probably the first real triple threat - he can dance, sing and act; but he does them all at once. Not only that, he directed this movie too! I wouldn't be surprised if he choreographed as well.
Here's a movie that really stood the test of time. I watched this for the very first time in its entirety and I couldn't believe how entertained I was from something that was created back in 1952. I watched it on the plane and there were so many times I had to cover my mouth from laughing out loud because the movie was just so funny.
The whole cast was incredible. Kelly's sidekick in this movie, Donald O'Connor, and the love interest, Debbie Reynolds, were all triple threats. Even the protagonist of the story, Jean Hagen, who gave one of those great performances that the audience would hate to love and love to hate. This movie wouldn't have been all that if it wasn't for her too.
But overall, I'm just so impressed with the quality of the choreography and/of the dancing. I truly see now why Kelly is always the go-to reference for standards and quality of dancing. I can't believe it took me this long to finally watch this classic.
