Apparently a remake of a Hong Kong movie, Eye In The Sky, which I have never seen; Cold Eyes or Gam Si Ja Deul is fast-paced action-thriller that's highly entertaining.
Directed by Jo Ui Seok and Kim Byung Seo, for a 2-hour long movie they were able to keep the audience's attention throughout. Right from the beginning, it felt sleek and fast-moving, with short breathing room here and there.
However, the whole tracking and surveillance team was quite a big number but the only focus was on the two leads, the veteran leader played by Sol Kyung Gu and the rookie, Han Hyo Joo. So it wasn't easy to remember who the others were even though they have memorable nicknames.
As for the antagonist, Jung Woo Sung pulled off a cool, cold and smooth operator.
All the cast were adequate in their roles, but I guess credit goes to the directors for a fun and entertaining movie. And I liked how there weren't too much of fight scenes, but rather the focus remained on the reconnaissance; making it more realistic. And even with limited fight scenes, the movie was still captivating and exciting.
I'm very interested to see the sequel, especially with the Simon Yam cameo at the end who starred in the original.
