Nothing about character introduction kept my attention. Story development and storytelling by Paul W. S. Anderson was boring even though CGI was respectable most of the time in creating the image of Pompeii on the silver screen.
And the action sequences were filmed cleverly to create the illusion of flashy choreography when there really wasn't any.
Perhaps it's also wrong to have Kit Harington carry this movie. He didn't have the onscreen charisma strong enough to make him interesting to the audience, with his constant brooding. Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbaje had double his charisma and every time they were onscreen together, Triple A always stole the spotlight.
Carrie-Anne Moss and Kiefer Sutherland were good enough portraying their roles, but Jessica Lucas seemed out of place. Her beauty somehow didn't sit well with that particular era for me.
Emily Browning was the only one that looked more interesting, a character for the audience to care for.
I only got onboard in the final 30 minutes. And after all that I've seen, I'm glad it ended the way it did. But by then it was too little too late.
