Director Announced For Marvel's Doctor Strange

I did a posting back in April, with the mentioning of the name Stephen Strange in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it must mean Marvel was ready to make a Doctor Strange movie.

And announced last night, horror film director, Scott Derrickson is now attached to direct Doctor Strange. No further news as to the release date yet but looking at Marvel's calendar, they have already secured the dates of 8 July 2016 and 5 May 2017 with no official titles for them yet. So Doctor Strange could easily take one of these.

Derrickson is known for The Exorcism For Emily Rose, The Day The Earth Stood Still, more recently, Sinister, and the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil starring Eric Bana, Olivia Munn and Edgar Ramirez. With his name attached to helm, you can expect that Doctor Strange will not be your typical Marvel outing. It will probably be darker and mysterious, but that's exactly what Doctor Strange needs.

However, a crossover with the rest of the Marvel properties in the future, perhaps Avengers 3, will be very interesting to see how he is incorporated in. Or will Marvel keep Doctor Strange separate from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Doubt it but never say never.
