They were some of the best parts of Saturday Night Live during their stint there. The Lonely Island is made up of Jorma Taccone, Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer (L-R); and they were the writers and creators of many of the shorts on SNL, especially musical videos with Justin Timberlake like Dick In A Box and Motherlover.
They have had success on their YouTube channel, and also 3 albums under their belts. My favourite song is still Jizz In My Pants.
Obviously, they have a certain brand of humour that one has to appreciate in order to enjoy. I loved their work on SNL and am curious about the kind of movie that they are going to create. It will be directed by Schaffer and Taccone, and most definitely will star Samberg, if not all 3. Their movie will also be produced by Judd Apatow, so that immediately gives you an idea as to the kind of direction their movie will take.
