I should really start recording my reactions to Marvel and Star Wars trailers. These reactions are priceless and only come once.
First impression was, oh OK, so Marvel isn't doing a comedy after all with hiring Peyton Reed to direct this film. The tone was so serious with Michael Douglas's monologue, even right up to him asking Paul Rudd to be the Ant-Man.
And then Rudd's reaction! And that was it. I was hooked. Once again, this could become a very off-beat Marvel movie that will just blow our minds. And just like Guardians Of The Galaxy, no one would expect this to be as good it is going to be.
We also get to see the Ant-Man suit and how it transforms Scott Lang into ant size. It has elements of Honey, I Shrunk The Kids; but him riding an insect is classic comic book imagery. I have no doubt that Marvel will be very successful in bringing the comic pages to the silver screen once again.
I also have a feeling that Corey Stoll will be a very formidable villain here for Ant-Man with a strong performance. That one shot of him banging against the glass wall sold it for me.
