Matt Damon Is Once Again Jason Bourne
It's confirmed. Matt Damon has finally convinced Universal Pictures to hire both him and Paul Greengrass back to do another Bourne movie. (At the same time, kicking poor Jeremy Renner to the curb.)
The new Bourne movie will released on 29 July 2016 with Greengrass back in the director's chair. Greengrass was responsible for the success of the second and third installment of the Bourne franchise, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum respectively.
What surprises me right now is the date of release. July of 2016 is not that far away. Meaning, pre-production must be underway and shooting will be starting very soon. With a quick check on IMDb, Damon doesn't have much on his list at the moment so this is very plausible a time frame.
I never understood the Renner installment even though it wasn't a bad film. That movie felt like a desperate move for the franchise to continue just because they couldn't get Damon to come back.
But what I hope to see in the new film is to have Renner in there as well just so Renner's Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy can still makes sense in the franchise.
