It has been reported that 20th Century Fox has just won from a bidding war the rights to the 1981 cult classic, Escape From New York starring Kurt Russell.
The original creator, John Carpenter, is also on board but only serving as an executive producer. Probably only means that Carpenter is giving them his blessing.
I only own some vague memories of the original, Russell in an eye-patch has forever imprinted in my mind. I'd like to rewatch this classic again, hopefully not just before the remake comes out.
No word yet on release date or cast or director.
