Neill Blomkamp Directing Next Alien Movie
For the past few weeks, Neill Blomkamp has been posting a lot of concept art on Aliens, creating a lot of speculations if he's onboard to helm the next Alien installment. Although no reports claimed that he met with 20th Century Fox before this (which owns the Alien franchise), but I'm guessing this was all a publicity stunt to see how fans would react.
And the results were so positive that Fox has just signed Blomkamp as the official director.
I loved Blomkamp's District 9 which I thought was crazily brilliant. I did not mind Elysium at all and still thought there were more redeeming qualities in there than bad ones. Now even before the release of Chappie, it's great to see that he will be taking on one of the most popular franchises that has suffered greatly in the last few installments. (I couldn't care less for Prometheus.)
Marrying the Alien franchise with Blomkamp's sensibilities is a great idea. We probably will get to delve into the minds and the perspective of these alien monsters even more with his storytelling. I love this new installment already.
And it's also great to hear that Sigourney Weaver is very agreeable with Blomkamp's vision for the sequel, but how agreeable is she, we still do not know yet. It would be great to have her come back to the franchise.
