Jason Segel In Another Lego Spin-Off Movie
Yes, The Lego Movie was a huge success. People have even been complaining about how it wasn't nominated in this year's Academy Awards and that it should have even won. But for Warner Bros. to develop yet another spin-off?
They have already announced Lego Ninjago and Lego Batman movies scheduled to be released on 23 September 2016 and 26 May 2017. And it's quite likely that The Lego Movie Sequel will be released on 25 May 2018, a date that Warner Bros. has earmarked.
There is however another date that has not been confirmed a title yet, 24 May 2019. Could it be for this yet another Lego spin-off movie called Billion Brick Race?
No word yet as to the plot but sounds like cute version of "The Amazing Race"? What is confirmed is that Jason Segel and Drew Pearce (who contributed to the films Iron Man 3 and Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation) will co-write and even co-direct.
Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Dan Lin and Roy Lee will be back to produce,
But if this was really set for 2019, would Jason Segel be attached to a movie that is still years in development? Or could this movie arrive earlier than we think, say fall of 2017?
From what Segel did with The Muppets back in 2011; having puppets interact with humans in a creative and interesting story that remains true to the source material, it would be interesting to see his take on what he would do with a Lego movie franchise.
