Captain America: Civil War Synopsis And Cast Confirmed
It was just yesterday when I said I could be totally wrong to expect the newly formed Avengers at the end of Avengers: Age Of Ultron to be in Captain America: Civil War. Because for continuity's sake, it would be difficult to explain why the new Avengers aren't there.
And today, it's confirmed by Marvel Studios of the cast and an official synopsis as well.
The synopsis reads, "Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age Of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damange, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."
The cast and players involved in this movie are:
Chris Evans as Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man
Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow
Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
Don Cheadle as War Machine
Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier
Anthony Mackie as Falcon
Paul Bettany as Vision
Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch
Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther
Emily VanCamp as Agent 13
Daniel Bruhl as Baron Helmut Zemo
Frank Grillo as Crossbones
Martin Freeman still unknown
What we didn't know before and what I didn't guess was the addition of:
Paul Rudd as Ant-Man
William Hurt as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross
Hurt is an interesting addition. He first appeared in a Marvel movie playing General Thunderbolt in The Incredible Hulk back in 2008 with Edward Norton. But Norton as we know has since been replaced, I wasn't expecting to see anyone else from that movie to return.
I think it's a good move. Hurt is a talent that you would want to keep. And there is continuity too - In Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Hulk Buster was "kept safe" in space by Veronica - a Whedon nod to the Archie lore because Liv Tyler played Betty in The Incredible Hulk, who Norton's Bruce Banner was in love with. In the Archie comics, Veronica and Betty are rivals for Archie's feelings, that's why Whedon used Veronica.
Just a little trivia there. This movie, nevertheless, has commenced principal photography as of now at Pinewood Studios, Atlanta, Georgia.
