Mel Gibson Back At Directing With Hacksaw Ridge

It's been a long while since Mel Gibson has been behind the lens, a decade's worth. But he's now hard at work on his fifth directorial project titled Hacksaw Ridge.

Lionsgate is funding the movie and Gibson has already attracted Andrew Garfield and Sam Worthington to star. Today, Deadline brings word that Vince Vaughn has also signed on.

The movie is fact-based and is about Desmond Doss (to be played by Garfield), the first Concientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Medal of Honor.

Production will be in Australia from a script co-written by Randall Wallace, who wrote Braveheart for Gibson.

No word yet on a release date but will be in the year 2017.

I've always been a fan of Gibson, and he brought it on himself when he lost all credibility in the eyes of the public. But it's high time for him to get back to bringing us some great movies.
