Pixels (4.5/10)
Pixels started with pulling on some nostalgia strings, giving audience a reminiscence of all the action with a joystick and a few buttons amidst an arcade.
But after that, any other attempts at recreating pixelated nostalgic factor failed. I very much disliked it when all those pixels and scores were floating around Adam Sandler as he was seen deep in thought, or when the heroes were killing the aliens.
The movie wasn't made to make sense obviously. Why would aliens that can create nightmares made of pixels follow the rules of the games, or why would aliens bothered with creating pixels if they really wanted to go into war. Or why would aliens that could create nightmares made of pixels assumed that humans wanted a challenge in the first place?
Sandler and Kevin James were just up to their usual shticks. Nothing more, nothing less. The duo that stole the movie was Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage. These guys were hilarious, Gad more so than Dinklage only because Gad had more screen time.
But overall, this wasn't a good movie by any stretch. Sure it was fun to see all the colours and action, but in the end, it really was just a waste of time.
Why even bring in the creator of Pac Man anyway? I do not see that adding any value at all.
