After Pitch Perfect 3 was announced not long after Pitch Perfect 2 opened, many speculated that Elizabeth Banks may be back to direct again.
Today, Variety has confirmed that this will indeed be the case. Universal Pictures is happy with the end result of the second installment, and Banks directorial debut, so they are going to keep her. Plus, she is a big name that they can use to promote the movie.
The third movie will also see the return of Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson; though how much screentime this trio will have is still unknown as they have all moved on from college by then. Kay Cannon is also onboard to pen for the movie again.
The movie will be out on 4 August 2017.
