I hope this isn't going to be another Maleficent kind of movie. Disney should have learned their mistake with that one (even though financially it was quite the success).
The Hollywood Reporter today has reported that Emma Stone is in negotiations to star as Cruella de Vil, the villain in the 101 Dalmatians classic that was released back in 1961. Glenn Close gave her a live-action portrayal in the 2000 sequel, 102 Dalmatians.
The story will take an unprecedented look at the origin of the villain; which hopefully would not end up a critical mess like Maleficent was. And Stone is also a very interesting choice. I don't see her as the character yet but I'm sure she will convince me, if she accepts the role.
The movie is supposed to start shooting some time this year, probably the second half, for a 2017 release.
