But is there anything else left to see from the movie after this trailer? I think we've seen everything there is to the plot points. Especially that one sequence with the Trojan Horse-like plot, and the other about his son. That's like a major spoiler for the actual movie.
There's no doubt McConaughey is becoming this bona fide talent, a Hollywood golden child if you will. And this movie, directed and written by Gary Ross, has the potential to give McConaughey another best performance of this year.
Let's see if the movie will be that good when it comes out on 13 May 2016..
If you have actually read any of the books written about Newton Knight, that's already a spoiler alert. The kid who dies in the trailer is not his son (probably his nephew). Another of his nephews was hung by the Confederates.
ReplyDeleteThe trailer looked like an action flick, but Newton's love life was just as full of action! We didn't see much of Gugu (as Rachel his second wife) and didn't see at all Keri Russell who plays his first wife Serena. The producers aren't going to pay Big Bucks to Keri Russell for a bit part.
Newton Knight's life is difficult to condense into a 2 hour movie... a TV series that lasted 10 seasons would probably only scratch the surface. Don't worry. I bet there are plenty of surprises.
Thank you Sadie for your feedback. I don't know anything about the story, which is why I thought the trailer looked like it's giving everything away. I'm just complaining about the way the trailer is cut. I'm definitely watching the movie.
