James Wan's The Conjuring 2 Spins-Off Main Villain The Nun
With another great success in The Conjuring 2, and following the footsteps of the original, Warner Bros. Pictures are going to milk this franchise as much as they can in spinning-off the main villain of the sequel, The Nun.
The first movie gave us the spin-off, Annabelle, which was a very different type of movie with a different quality. But having said that, Annabelle did enough (USD 256 million) to warrant itself a sequel. Annabelle 2 will be directed by David F. Sandberg, who's short "Lights Out" has earned him the attention of James Wan, and the sequel is going to be out on 19 May 2017.
Today, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the main villain of The Conjuring 2 is now in the works; with Aquaman's writer David Leslie Johnson writing the script.
Like Annabelle, there is a back story to The Nun that could be interesting depending on how much care and love they put into producing it. But if Annabelle is anything to go by, this probably will end up as another generic horror story.
No word yet on a release date but I don't see it getting released in the same year Annabelle comes out so it should be 2018.
