There has been rumblings inside Walt Disney Pictures about producing a live-action The Little Mermaid, although what classic animated movie isn't at this point.
Today, Deadline has confirmed some movement for the project with reports that Lin-Manuel Miranda, who will be in Mary Poppins Returns, will be collaborating with iconic songwriter Alan Menken to write all the songs for the live-action adaptation.
The movie will also be produced by Miranda with Marc Platt, while he has also provided songs for Disney's upcoming Moana.
As for Menken, he has been a staple in the songwriting department in Walt Disney Animation Studios, all the way back to the 1989 classic The Little Mermaid animated movie.
No confirmed release date yet as of now.
