With the success of the live-action Maleficent spin-off, Walt Disney Pictures' next female villain to get a solo movie is 101 Dalmations' Cruella de Vil. And Emma Stone is headlining as the titular character.
The Hollywood Reporter today has confirmed that Disney is in final negotiations with Alex Timbers, who is the co-creator for Amazon's "Mozart In The Jungle" and a theatre director. Cruella, once confirmed, will be his first feature film.
I am not familiar with his work, and I have no idea how different Cruella will be - a la Maleficent. But it's good to know that the project is progressing forward.
