The first Dune movie was released back in 1984 with director David Lynch. The original author of "Dune" was Frank Herbert, and his son Brian has written many sequels and prequels under that "Dune" title.
This week, ComingSoon has reported that the youger Herbert has confirmed via his Twitter account that Legendary has signed Sicario and Arrival director, Denis Villeneuve, to helm the remake.
Villeneuve must be completing post-production for Blade Runner 2049, so his next project will be Dune, a project which he has expressed deep interest before.
No word yet on a release date or production date.
