[Review] Get Out (7.5/10)

From the mind of comedian Jordan Peele, and that is why this little horror movie has gained so much attention. Or was it also because it was very well written and directed by Peele himself?

Unlike a lot of other horror movies out there, Peele has covered all his bases. There was not any loop holes to be found, except for maybe the one where if a reported missing person was still missing; and if someone spotted him, the police should have done something to make sure everything was okay.

The choice of cast was fantastic. Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams were easy to follow. And the rest of the supporting cast like Bradley Whitford and Stephen Root were great choices as they are usually in the comedic roles. Except for Catherine Keener who excelled in her more creepier role as the hypnotist.

There were a few jump scares but nothing too cliched. The tension buildup came from Peele's direction in creating scenarios that were of the horror factor and he was a great craftsman, surprising everyone that he had it in him.

But true to his roots, the comedy - what little the movie contained - was signature of what we have come to be so familiarized from the TV series "Key & Peele". And they were a joy to watch.

Peele has raised a lot of eyebrows and gained a lot of traction from this little film. Expect him to create a lot more in the years to come.
