[Review] Slither (7/10)
Slither is perhaps the best movie that represents the style of James Gunn, before his gig with Marvel Studios, of course.
This was a fun horror that effectively expressed Gunn's sense of flavour and comedic flair. With a great cast led by Nathan Fillion and Elizabeth Banks.
Mixed in between the horror was a sub-plot of romance and comedy that carried the movie from start to finish. Michael Rooker once again had a perfect role written by Gunn. And midway through Gunn also very deftly introduced another female heroine in Tania Saulnier.
At the time of its release, only Fillion was well-known and even that was in the circle of the geeks and nerds. The success of the movie came solely from Gunn's direction, which was not only fun but at times, downright suspenseful.
A neat little horror movie that sat in between a B-movie and a Hollywood gem.
