[Review] Super (5.5/10)

I am going back to the two movies that kind of landed director James Gunn his gig at Marvel Studios with Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Starting with Super, starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler. It's like the B-movie of Kick-Ass and done with enough heart and fun to make it mildly entertaining.

Gunn was great at balancing cheesiness of the 60's in a movie parodying the superhero genre of today. And the result was a good blend of humour and cheesy action that knew not to take itself seriously but just be what it was meant to be.

The cast was great, and Wilson was a very unlikely hero while pulling all sorts of funny faces; being serious in a movie that was never supposed to be.

Kevin Bacon, Sean Gunn and Michael Rooker made great appearances but I would have loved to see more of them; after knowing Gunn and Rooker in the Marvel franchise.
