[Review] Avengers: Infinity War (Non-Spoiler First Reaction)
The Russo Brothers has got this superhero-assembled movie genre down pat. With the first two Avengers and Captain America: Civil War already in existenxe, Avengers: Infinity War took the right step forward with proper features of most of the huge assembly.
Thanos had a great role as one of the better supervillain in the MCU, with motivations that while unoriginal but explained his point of view properly. There was even a scene to show another layer, though that was not my favourite scene after the first viewing and I suspect may change later on.
His Dark Order suffered the most in their characterization as I still do not have a clear distinction between two of the four, even though by now all the toys have already familiarized their names. But this would be a relatively minor complaint.
The real stars of course were the original members of the Avengers, with additional focus on Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.
My other minor gripes were because, again like in the Russos' Civil War action sets, you would wonder where some of the heroes were during pivotal moments. There was one major one here which really nagged at me.
Also, a few characters were sorely missing because they played such prominent roles in Ragnarok as well as in Black Panther. I wished the movie did not leave anyone out without any explanation but this was bound to happen.
There were many points in the movie that you would cheer and laugh. Drax had another great line. Thor, like in Ragnarok, almost made me tear up again at one point.
This was an action packed movie from the start. There were rarely a full moment even with some expositions or Thanos' flashback scene (as seen in the trailer).
I will definitely be watching this a few more times and will give a spoiler filled review next.
