[Review] Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (4/10)
Title - Pokemon Detective Pikachu
Studio - Legendary Entertainment
Starring - Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, Suki Waterhouse, Rita Ora, Bill Nighy
Writer - Nicole Perlman, Rob Letterman
Director - Rob Letterman
Release - 10 May 2019
Ryan Reynolds has become such an entertainer that he even created his own brand of movie marketing. And he was easily the one carrying the whole of this movie even without showing his face.
If you are a Pokemon fan, you will probably like this movie. If you are indifferent, the appearances of the multitude Pokemon will grow tired somewhere in the middle of the movie.
To make matters worse, the two leads in Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton were not interesting to watch. I have never thought much of Smith in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and he certainly has not won me over here.
The plot was paper thin as not much of the plot points made sense. But the movie very much encourages you to just go with its logic.
And in the end, without going into spoiler territory, the final character that appeared was a complete miscast. They should have used somebody else.
