[Review] Ad Astra (8.5/10)

Title - Ad Astra
Studio - 20th Century Fox
Starring - Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, Liv Tyler, Ruth Negga
Writer - James Gray, Ethan Gross
Director - James Gray
Release - 20 September 2019

This was such a great sit-through, with a great third act to close off the story.

The Good:

- Brad Pitt's performance here showed his best and most matured. He has a great opportunity to be nominated twice come the next Academy Awards - for Best Actor and Best Supporting.

- This was a slow burn and like an onion slowly peeling each layer one by one, revealing the psyche of Pitt's character and his relationship with his father.

- The payoff of the slow burn all happened in the third act, and the performances between the two actors were just top notched, which I would lobby for a Best Supporting Actor award as well.

- And Pitt's character actually had a close to his story arc, which I thought we wouldn't get from a movie that felt like it would have closed on an open-ended way.

The Bad:

- One can argue on the slow pacing, and how almost nothing ever happened; or how maybe Sutherland and Negga didn't even need to be there.
