This had the tone and feel that was quite similar to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and The Lego Movie. And I think it's safe to say that this style and pacing structure, and the humour, are what we can expect from any project by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, even when they didn't direct them.
I'll admit that character-wise, these family members weren't the most original, but were very relatable because of that. But then again, the character development also didn't impress too much as it went a very predictable route.
But the journey was definitely a fun one and definitely worth watching. The pet dog was used abundantly with great humorous effect. But I would have liked to see the younger brother have more stuff to because it felt more like the parents favoured the protagonist Katie much more.
The final battle went a bit over the top, and Maya Rudolph's character felt forced into becoming a superhero type, just so she wasn't left out like the kid brother. It would have been fine if the story focused on the father and daughter.
