It's hard to take Chris Rock seriously because his voice is so iconic as a standup and as a comedian. But credit where credit is due, he really went for the role and delivered as best as he could.
Reportedly to have the most expensive budget out of all the Saw movies, it's hard not to question where that budget went because there wasn't any set pieces that looked better than any other Saw movies that came before. Everything felt the same as it's set in the same universe and, more importantly, directed once again by Darren Lynn Bousman.
There was also nothing original about the story. You could see from very early on who were the dirty cops and who was the new Jigsaw. So the reveal wasn't much of a reveal.
One thing that I enjoyed was Max Minghella's performance as I hardly enjoyed him whenever he popped up, either in The Social Network or The Handmaid's Tale.
I was actually disappointed that the ending didn't go the other route as that would have been a more interesting plot point to lead into any future potential sequels. So seeing as how this movie went, I honestly do not need any more from this franchise.
