[Review] The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (6/10)

Title - The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
Studio - New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster, The Safran Company
Starring - Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Ruairi O'Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, Julian Hilliard, John Noble, Eugenie Bondurant, Steve Coulter
Writer - David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, James Wan
Director - Michael Chaves
Release - 4 June 2021

This was probably the weakest one of the trilogy. The story itself wasn't as interesting, and it felt like rehashing old tropes. The stakes never got higher because we all know the Warrens never died from any of their early cases. And, as we get to know more about the couple with the advent of information on the superhighway, we know a lot of the drama were made up onscreen.

But the performances of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga was what really sold the movie for me. They both had their turn to shine, but this time Farmiga moreso than Wilson.

And none of the suspense compared to anything from the first movie, or even the second. I would have, however, liked for the story to take place more in the courtroom - to see how the phrase which was also the subtitle, "The Devil Made Me Do It", went down in the courtroom.

But, alas, the story became something that was quite normal in the horror genre. And if it wasn't for the Warrens, and if it weren't for Farmiga and Wilson, this movie would not have been as good as it was.
