A Jane Austen classic that inspired Clueless back in the 90's that shot Alicia Silverstone to stardom with her version of Emma.
And not just Silverstone's Cher character, we can deduce which characters were adapted to Clueless and make fun comparisons.
However, Paul Rudd's casting was a much superior one because Johnny Flynn in this movie was a terrible choice. He did not have screen presence, both his characters and performance were forgettable; and the scene where Taylor-Joy's Emma was supposed to realise she was falling for him, there was no chemistry and it was forced acting as nothing about that scene was convincing.
That notwithstanding, the other players were definitely fun to watch, especially Taylor-Joy who carried the movie effortlessly, and Mia Goth was a great alternative to Brittany Murphy's performance in Clueless.
There were a lot of times the dialogue lost the plot for me, and I am unsure if that's the writing or my own lacking because I've seen a lot of British period pieces and they were not as difficult to understand.
But Miranda Hart was my favourite side character because her supposedly annoying character was done so well that she was so memorable.
