We all need a good sports movie once in a while, especially a football one; but this did not really scratch that itch.

Right off the top, I will say that the relationship and its dynamic between Luke Wilson and Martin Sheen were not very well established. The way Wilson suddenly jabbed at Sheen took me by surprise because I didn't realize that their relationship has reached that stage. I mean, it's Martin Sheen, you don't talk down to Martin Sheen.

But then, Wayne Knight always delivers as the antagonist. He can go evil, all the way to the most extreme as humanely possible. And it's why we can love to hate his character as much as we did, here or in Jurassic Park.

Jake Austin Walker was supposed to be the lead character for the football team. One subplot was that he was mistakenly taken as legally adult. I wouldn't blame them with how he looked. The actor himself looks like he's in his late 20s and he's portraying a 17 year old. Nothing new in Hollywood but as of late, it's becoming more and more unbelievable and unrealistic.

The movie itself was very run-of-the-mill for a genre like this one. Nothing new, nothing surprising. There was the expected drama, there was the expected light humour, the expected action on the pitch. But I'm glad there was no subplot on the drama for the coaches as it was skimmed through, and we really didn't need to delve deeper.
