I thought this was a good effort for first-time director Rodo Sayagues. The action sequences were good. It really was the script that made the movie not as enjoyable, and much of a step down from the original. 

It was even more disappointing because Fede Alvarez co-wrote this one, too.

The movie strayed away from logic a lot more this time around. The biggest one was when taking Stephen Lang's character out of his own familiar environment and into a new one, and letting him do equally well and getting climatized that quickly. 

There was a good subplot with the twist for Madelyn Grace's character, but it was never fully clarified what happened; which also became a disappointment for the overall story.

I would have gone with a different direction for this sequel: I would have kept him in his house again but keeping the adult adversaries the same. That would have up the ante enough for me, and to have him fight for his life. And still keeping the end scene the same.
