Other than perhaps my biased preference, only Jason Bateman was worth watching, and that was just barely. And Pom Klementieff who seemed to be enjoying herself.
Octavia Spencer did not look like she wanted to be here. This was a tragic outing for Melissa Leo who can't seem to be put in a better movie after her Oscar win. And Melissa McCarthy was just being her usual self.
How is Ben Falcone still getting greenlit? The pacing and the direction here were so badly composed , the story so shallow, and the gags did not even make me chuckle. Every character was a caricature, but if everything else was better there would still be some kind of fun to be had with caricatures. Not here.
If I had paid money to watch this thing I would have been more angry.
