[Review] Red Notice (5.5/10)

Title - Red Notice
Production - Netflix, Seven Bucks Productions, Flynn Picture Company
Starring - Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, Ritu Arya, Chris Diamantopoulos
Writer - Rawson Marshall Thurber
Director - Rawson Marshall Thurber
Release - 12 November 2021

Without Ryan Reynolds, this movie does not work. The only reason that this movie was at least entertaining was because Ryan Reynolds was being Ryan Reynolds. I am giving Ryan Reynolds one whole point here.

So much so that his name should appear as first billing instead of Dwayne Johnson, because every time the duo was onscreen, Reynolds quips were dancing around Johnson; and for the first time ever, Johnson was playing catch up to grab the limelight.

Just like Johnson's Jungle Cruise, there are plenty of movies of the same genre that have been done better. And the only reason to make or watch Jungle Cruise, or Red Notice, was for the stars themselves.

There were plenty of times that I thought the movie was going to reveal a con within a con, they never did. The plot was never able to be more clever than the simple and straight forward thing that it was.
