First thing that kept bothering me while watching this movie was that Daisy Edgar-Jones did not look like a girl that grew up on her own in the marsh. She looked way too clean and pretty; unless the novel had a way to explain this that the movie couldn't.
As a movie, this was well-written and well-directed in telling the story, jumping back and forth in its timeline that was a little awkward at first but then once the pacing became consistent it flowed more smoothly.
I thought the three young actors all performed well. But there was never any doubt who the bad guy was and this was where I wanted a little bit more nuance from Olivia Newman's direction. This was in no shape or form a mystery (unless it was in the novel) but at least Newman kept me wondering throughout, and the little thing she did at the end was appreciated.
I found the ending a little funny because the opposition lawyer guessed everything.
